2. Counter Application — S$80

Applications submitted over the counter at an ICA Services Centre or Singapore Overseas Mission cost S$80. This is S$10 more than the online rate.

3. Lost or Damaged Passport

If your passport has been lost or damaged, ICA charges the normal passport application fee plus a non-refundable replacement penalty:

  • First replacement: S$50 penalty
  • Second or subsequent replacement: S$100 penalty

For example, a first replacement submitted online would generally total S$120 (S$150 + S$250), while a subsequent replacement would generally total S$170 (S$250 + S$250). Counter applications would be S$400 and S$500 respectively.  Buy Singapore passport online.

4. Newborn Passport Fee Waiver

There is a useful exception for newborn Singapore citizens. The first passport application fee is waived when the application is submitted through MyICA on or before the child’s first birthday, subject to ICA’s eligibility requirements.

5. Passport Validity

For Singapore citizens aged 16 and above, passports are generally valid for 10 years. Passports issued to children below 16 remain valid for 5 years.

Bottom line: For most applicants in Singapore, applying online is the cheaper option at S$250, compared with S$150 at the counter. If you’re applying for a newborn’s first passport, check whether the fee waiver applies before paying.
